Adults

Across the parish we have a variety of activities and events that are run specifically for adults.
We love to welcome people to church, no matter your age or previous involvement with church!
Both St Mary's and St Christopher's host community projects with activities for adults to get involved with, through the work of the Good Neighbour Project and the Vine Centre.
Community Cafes also run there through the week.
Take a look at what is currently happening and click on the boxes below to find out more.

The Good Neighbour Project

At St Christopher’s, the Good Neighbour Project runs various activities to help improve the lives of local people.
These activities include: a Day Care Centre for over 50’s, a Community Café, a Breakfast Café, a Fruit and Vegetable Market, Line Dancing plus a range of Health & Wellbeing Activities for over 50’s.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most of these activities are currently closed. However, we have now re-opened our Community cafe on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday lunchtimes from 11am – 1pm. We are hoping to re-open most of our other activities in the coming weeks.

The Vine Centre

At St Mary’s, the Vine Centre runs a busy programme of activities and events for older people in our community through their Over 55’s Day Centre.
In the past these have included: crafts, prize bingo, quizzes, reminiscing, gentle exercise, table top games, and baking or cooking.
The Vine also works with local partners to provide affordable family days out, and runs a Community Café.

Volunteering

So much of the work that goes on in the parish and through the projects relies on the hard work of volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering with any of the community projects that run in the parish, then we'd be happy to talk with you about it.
In the first instance please contact the Community Project leads directly via their website:
Good Neighbours currently have opportunities for volunteer minibus drivers / escorts,  kitchen assistants and generally help in all our activities. See their website or contact Diane Berry: 01274 689898
The Family Centre always welcome volunteers to support the children and youth clubs that run, particuarly if you have energy to give! See their website or contact Nadine: 01274 652539
Primetime at the Vine is often starting new projects and groups to meet the local community’s needs, and are always keen to welcome new volunteers onto the team. If you could offer some of your time to volunteer at our projects, we would love to hear from you. See their website or contact the office: 01274 788328
The Vine Centre welcomes volunteers to help staff their Community Cafe, to support the Over 55s Day Centre, or to volunteer at First Fruits, the weekly parent and toddler group. See their website or contact Emma on 01274 788328.
