Baptism for Adults

The Christian faith has at its heart the person of Jesus Christ, and the relationship of love and forgiveness God offers to all who believe in him.

We all have different journeys in life, and if as an adult you have come to know Jesus, or had an experience of God that makes you want to know more, then getting baptised is an wonderful declaration of your faith. You are never too old to take this step!

Baptism is a symbol and act to say that YOU BELONG TO JESUS. It is both a public and private way of saying that you believe in Jesus as the Son of God, and want to commit your life to following him.

Part of preparing to be baptised involves meeting with us to talk through baptism and what it means, and there’s plenty of space for questions and thinking things through.

What if I was baptized / christened as a child?

You may have been baptized at a christening when you were a child or in a different Christian tradition, and if that’s the case then you’ve already been baptised, and we can’t do it again!

But there are other special ways to renew the promises that were made then in a fresh way, such as:

1) Renewing your baptismal vows, or

2) in a Confirmation Service – take a look here for more information on that.
