Welcome to Laisterdyke

Laisterdyke and Sutton are small communities on the edge of Bradford, with plenty going on to draw people together!
St Mary's, on Parsonage Road, is a small but welcoming congregation who see themselves as God's family gathered together.
As well as Sunday worship, St Mary’s (also known as The Vine Centre) is a base for some amazing community projects – Primetime at the Vine, First Fruits and The Vine Centre – which do a fantastic array of activities and groups for the community to be part of.
Do take a look at the boxes below to find out more of what is happening in Laisterdyke and Sutton!

About St Mary's church

If you’re interested in history….Laisterdyke’s historic importance depended upon the railways and textile industry, and these declined when the industry collapsed in the 1960s. Since then a lot of the industry has disappeared and replaced with housing, and so the old St Mary’s Church was left surrounded by industrial buildings. The church decided to move closer to the newer housing, and so relocated to an office block come community centre where The Vine Centre was born!
We hold Sunday Services at St Mary’s every week at 11.15am, and follow a varying pattern of worship through the month including: Holy Communion, Morning Worship, and Café Church.
St Mary’s also runs a monthly Pop-Up Church for families, which engages many of the families that attend activities at Primetime at the Vine.
Please see our Worship page for more information.

Our Community Projects!

Through intiatives started by church members, an impressive range of children’s activities and care for the elderly in the area takes place at The Vine Centre, to serve the local community.
Primetime  Bradford is a Children and Young People’s Project based in the local community of BD4. "Young people are the focus of everything we do and it is our belief that by offering opportunities for children and young people to develop outside of their home and school life, we are helping to ensure young people are heard, valued and understood locally." They run a variety of groups and activites throughout the week, alongside school holiday support and holiday clubs.

The Vine Centre hosts a variety of community work. Alongside Primetime is also runs a Community Cafe, an Over 55s Day Centre, affordable family trips out, and a weekly mums and tots group  "First Fruits".
